| Officers Todd Bolin, Minneapolis, MN, Chairman Mr. Bolin, a life-long Lake Minnetonka resident, is President and Chief Operating Officer of Bolin, Inc., a full-service advertising, marketing, and business development agency. JoEllen L. Hurr, Long Lake, MN, Vice-Chair Ms. Hurr has been a Planning and Zoning Administrator for several cities in Minnesota since 1980. Hurr has served as a member of the board of the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District and presently serves as the Chairperson of the Coastal Zone Management Commission Advisory Committee to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. Hurr has served on the Freshwater Society's Board of Directors since 1989 and has served as Secretary of the Board since 1995. Tom Gapinske, White Bear Lake, MN, Treasurer Mr. Gapinske is CEO of the Institute for Environmental Assessment, a Midwest environmental consulting and engineering company. Donald R. Theissen, Ph.D., Woodbury, MN, Secretary Mr. Theissen was employed by the 3M Company from 1958 to 1996. Theissen has also held various positions in national chemical organizations. Theissen became a Freshwater Society Board Member in 1999. Directors Bruce Bomier, Anoka, MN Mr. Bomier is the CEO of the Institute for Environmental Assessment and President of the Environmental Resources Council. Reid O. Billig, Minneapolis, MN Mr. Billig spent 35 years working for 3M in various sales and marketing positions predominately in new business development. He has served on the Freshwater Society Board of Directors since 1995. Blyth Brookman, Excelsior, MN, Vice President of Programs Ms. Brookman is the Vice President Investment Officer at Hanson & Andersen Wealth Management Group of Wachovia Securities. She is a member of many community organizations. Ms. Brookman has a keen interest in the preservation of freshwater resources. Richard S. Caldecott, Ph.D., Stillwater, MN Emeritus Director Dr. Caldecott is the founder and was Dean of the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota from 1965 to 1984. Caldecott served as Assistant to the President of the University of Minnesota from 1984 to 1992 and currently serves as Professor Emeritus as well as serving on the Board of Directors of the Carnelian Marine Watershed District. Along with devoting time to many professional organizations, Dr. Caldecott was a member of the Freshwater Society's organizing committee in 1968 and since has served as an active Board Member. Robert Elde, Ph.D., St. Paul, MN Dr. Elde, Ph.D., is the Dean of the College of Biological Sciences at the University of Minnesota in St. Paul. Paul Floyd, JD Mr. Floyd is an attorney and partner at Wallen-Friedman and Floyd, PA, specializing in business and general corporate law. Mr. Floyd has a long history in nonprofit governance. Richard G. Gray, Sr., D.Sc., Plymouth, MN Emeritus Director Mr. Gray was founder and Chairman of the Board of Zero-Max Industries, Inc., until its sale in 1979. He was also the chief executive officer of IDS Mutual Fund Group from 1976 to 1981, and a director and member of the several committees of the 40 corporations and trusts of the Mutual Funds. Mr. Gray is one of the founders of the Freshwater Society, which he organized in 1968. Gray remains an active member of the Board of Directors and writes for the Society's publications. Stuart Grubb,, MS, PG, Stillwater, MN Mr. Grubb is a hydrologist and principal at Emmons and Olivier, multi-disciplinary environmental consulting firm and President of the Minnesota Groundwater Council. James W. Hansen, Dellwood, MN Mr. Hansen is President of a privately held medical services company and board chair of Ciprico, a publicly traded technology company. Jim is also a professor in the MBA graduate school of the University of St. Thomas. Barbara Luikens, M.D., Long Lake, MN Ms. Luikens, M.D., is employed by the Department of Radiology at Park Nicollet Clinic. Dr. Luikens has been involved with a variety of environmental organizations. John Packard, Excelsior, MN Mr. Packard is the President of Sterling Water, Inc., which consists of several Culligan dealerships. Packard has been employed by Culligan since 1969 in various capacities. Mr. Packard is a past president of The Water Quality Association and also serves on the boards of several professional industrial organizations. Mary Safar, Long Lake, MN Ms. Safar is a long-time Lake Minnetonka resident, volunteer, and community advocate. Tom Skramstad Minnetonka, MN Tom has lived on lakes his entire life and is passionate about preserving freshwater opportunities for future generations. His occupational role has been as a leader of high technology companies. Tom has served on many Boards over the years (for profit, non-profit, government agency, social service, school alumni association, city planning commission, and more), including being the Board Chair of the Lake Minnetonka Conservation District (LMCD). |
